The Brave Express Might Gaine has been a labor of love on my part. I started watching it because of diehard support from a few /m/en, found out that it wasn’t what I expected, but held on until the end.

HK Subs Are Better Than Nothing

I’m fond of watching obscure mecha shows. Being obscure, there are a complete lack of subs for many of them, while some are being subbed by a loosely-knit group of /m/en (a labor of love for the most part, considering that their audience is almost completely composed of fuckwads). I want to watch this show, but a quick-and-dirty search yields nothing.

Do I give up? No, for there is one last resort: HK subs. Badly-encoded, minimal typesetting, erroneous karaoke, and very very lol translation, HK subs make even “mass naked child events” look nothing. They can’t even get the names right. But that’s what I have a brain for.

Because compared to no subs, lol subs are better.

What I Watched Today: Might Gaine

I’ve been putting off starting on Might Gaine due to lack of good subs, but I finally gave in and acquired the only subs floating around, courtesy of HK. Their translation wasn’t half-bad, but they got all the names wrong (how the hell did “Maito” become “Showei” anyway?). Well, I’m just happy to be able to watch the show.

For those of you in the dark, Might Gaine is just one anime of the long-running Brave Series, in which the most famous representative would be GaoGaiGar. Might Gaine didn’t have the luxury of being made available to the Western world due to a falling-out between toymaker Takara (which was responsible for the Brave Series toys until GaoGaiGar) and animation studio Sunrise. However, its fans boldly claim that it is just as good, if not better, than its more popular cousin.
