Gisele Alain, Your Intrepid Odd Jobs Landlady

I came across another historical manga, set in 19th(?) century France. Gisele Alain is about an eponymous teenage girl who ran away from her wealthy upbringing to manage an apartment, doing all sorts of jobs for people (illegal solicitations not acceptable). Naturally, it’s episodic, but Gisele’s personality shines in every story.

She reminds me of those go-getting girl YA book leads. Gisele is smart, learned, naive, innocent, and curious about the world at large. Such a shame that there are only a grand total of 5 chapters scanlated.

Still, these are good stories. Read them and see for yourself!

Does it remind you anything of Croisée? That was a nice anime.

Oooh I’m reading that too, I’m eagerly waiting for new chaps. Haven’t watched Croisée yet either so can’t say anything about that.
